Moving Appliances: Practical Tips

How many indispensable appliances are there in your home? At least three: a refrigerator, a washing machine and a TV. Or four, with a computer included? How about a vacuum cleaner, a microwave oven, a dvd player...? All these things make our lives interesting, comfortable and enjoyable. And we, in turn, want all our "electronic helpers" to work as long as possible. And so when we move we are especially careful and cautious about household appliances.
How to get the equipment in a new house, without breaking or scratching on the road? The main rule is that the appliances should be transported in an upright position, as they are standing in your home. Securely fastened to the car body is a must! Usually the heaviest appliances (fridge, TV) are put into the car first, and fix them well with soft straps. If there is a possibility, it is better to order a separate car for the equipment and have a specialist supervise the loading.
Any devices are best transported in their "native" boxes - the ones in which it was purchased. When this is not possible, take the most appropriate size container. The box should not be too big - then the device will "hang out" inside, and the packaging will not save it from damage. For the same reasons it should not stick out of the box. In some cases, it is better to wrap the device in several layers of bubble wrap and transport it without a box at all.

How to Move the Refrigerator

How to move the big Refrigerator? In a lightweight and well secured position. First of all, your refrigerator must be defrosted and clean. Remove the shelves and drawers before moving your refrigerator. The refrigerator door should be secured so that it will not open during transportation. You can use soft straps for this. To prevent the refrigerator from shifting during transportation, you can fix it in the body with special supports and spacers.

The refrigerator is transported in an upright position. If you put it on the side, it can lead to the rupture of tubes and breaking of compressor fastening to the frame. In addition, in the "lying" position, oil from the compressor can leak into the blower, and this will lead to a breakdown of the equipment.
The packing for the refrigerator can be corrugated cardboard, styrofoam or air bubble wrap. If you want to reinsure yourself, you can combine several types of packaging. After transportation, do not plug in the refrigerator immediately. He must "stand" within 4-6 hours.

How to Move the TV

Many questions are raised and the transportation of the TV. Here, too, there is a specificity. TV should be transported in the same position in which you watch it at home. If it is impossible, in any case do not put it with the screen down. It is better to put the TV along the body, with the screen turned to the board. This is for safety reasons. If you put TV set with screen in driving direction, any abrupt maneuver (turning, braking) can cause tragedy for equipment. The same is true for computer monitors.
TV sets and monitors with CRT (electron-beam tube) are considered the most "unbreakable". Their internal arrangement is rather difficult to damage. When transporting such kind of TV sets you need to observe the simplest safety precautions - protect the screen and firmly fix the TV set in the cargo body. As for liquid crystal monitors and plasma displays they are very sensitive. They are afraid of shocks and vibration.

How to Move the Monitor

Ideally LCD monitors and plasma screens should be packed for transportation in the same way as at the factory. Firstly the device is wrapped in air bubble wrap, then placed in shock absorbing foam and in a box of corrugated cardboard.
Approximately the same way the specialists of transport companies act. Following their example, you will reduce the risk of possible damage. The larger the screen diagonal, the more carefully you need to handle equipment.

How to Move the Washer

When transporting the washing machine also need precautions, although not so careful. The most important thing is to secure the drum of the washing machine with special fixing bolts before loading. They should come with the purchase.
It is better to disconnect the hoses and couplings and put them in a separate bag. In order to avoid damage, the washing machine should be wrapped in bubble wrap.

How to Move the Vacuum Cleaner

Transport the vacuum cleaner also needs to be in disassembled condition: the unit itself separately, the hoses and brushes separately. If you have a vacuum cleaner in the house, make sure the water tank is empty.

How to Move the Microwave Oven

Be sure to wrap the microwave in cling film and put it in a box. If you do not have film on hand, you can use a thick, thick cloth. The walls of the oven may be deformed if struck, so it is important to choose strong packaging to protect against possible damage.

How to Move the Computer

It is best to transport your computer and laptop in their "native" boxes. As an option, the laptop can be transported in a special bag, additionally wrapped with shock-absorbing material. Before you pack your technique, you should disconnect from it all wires, mouse, keyboard. Make sure that the hard drive has been securely
